It is so beautiful how we have all come together. We began our second day with a hike in the Golan Heights to Zavitan river. This open, spacious, and hot location was a wonderful challenge for us. We were not only rewarded with the accomplishment of another adventure, but with the chance to swim in a lagoon at the bottom of the valley. The cold, fresh water was exhilarating and gave us a great boost of energy.
After our hike, we ascended the Har Bental and got a history lesson about the area and it’s importance to Israel. We were all inspired by Israel’s perseverance for justice, trust, and the peace of their people and the lands in which they reside. Returning to our temporary home at the Kibbutz, we made Shabbat preparations for the evening. We took part in Kabbalat Shabbat and learned about the significant ceremonies that take place and also had a discussion about their meaning. After dinner, we celebrated the birthday of one of our members and ate sweets from a local marketplace. We look forward to resting and relaxing on this Shabbat and continuing our journey this week.
The sun, the stream
The lake, the gleam
At night we dance
Before we dream
We share, we talk
We pray we love
When morning comes
We thank above
